How to Wear the HKFO

Step 1: Sit Properly

  • Sit on a stable chair or wheelchair.

  • Keep both legs straight.

Step 2: Place the Foot

  • Position the foot correctly inside the foot plate.

  • Fasten foot straps securely.

Step 3: Secure the Leg Straps

  • Tighten ankle straps first.

  • Then secure calf straps.

  • Fasten knee straps comfortably.

Step 4: Fix Hip Belt

  • Wrap pelvic belt around waist.

  • Tighten firmly but comfortably.

Step 5: Lock the Knee Joint

  • Engage knee lock if prescribed by doctor or therapist.

Step 6: Stand with Assistance

  • Use walker or parallel bars initially.

  • Stand slowly with therapist support.
